ARCO Conference in Greece

This week the Astrophysics Research Center of the Open University (ARCO) is holding a conference at the Planetarium of the Eugenides Foundation in Athens, Greece. The event, taking place on July 8-12 and led by Prof. Yoni Granot and Dr. Paz Biniamini, will present new research on gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), more than half a century after their discovery.

The conference will cover a range of phenomena, including instantaneous GRB emission, high-energy (GeV-TeV) radiation from GRBs, polarization (prompt, reverse shock, afterglow), and issues related to the central engine, jet production, multiwavelength observations, and the use of GRBs as cosmological probes.

Approximately 50 researchers from around the world, specializing in theoretical, observational, computational, and instrumental research related to GRBs, will participate. This conference provides an opportunity for meaningful interactions and scientific discussions, allowing researchers to address scientific issues more deeply and potentially leading to new insights.
