Winter School in Jewish Studies
A delegation from the Department of History, Philosophy, and Jewish Studies at the Open University of Israel has recently returned from an inspiring Winter School in Jewish Studies held in Frankfurt. The program was organized in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam, Sorbonne University, and Goethe University Frankfurt.
Prof. Avriel Bar-Levav, alongside Prof. Gadi Sagiv and Dr. Sharon Nimrod, taught as part of an international faculty team that included colleagues from the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Israel. The Winter School welcomed 6 MA students from the Open University’s History program, along with 10 students from the Netherlands, 11 from France, and 4 from Germany.
The intensive program combined academic lectures with guided tours, creating a dynamic and enriching learning environment. Students highlighted the strong connections formed across cultural and academic boundaries, as well as the value of the diverse perspectives shared.
Next year’s Winter School will be held in Paris, and the program will once again seek support from the Rothschild Foundation Europe, which has been a key partner since 2017.
