The Open University Digital Humanities and Social Sciences Gallery is happy to host artist Loukia Alavanou and the exhibition Loukia Alavanou: Green Room . Two works are on display: New Horizons Pilot and The Green Room , offering a 3D experience and extending the medium to encompass VR domains. The exhibition opens a new and fascinating chapter for the OUI gallery, which will function as a research laboratory for New Media artworks within the Digital Humanities and Social Sciences Center. Thanks to a grant from the Council of Higher Education, this new center will encourage and promote interdisciplinary collaborations for the study of various topics in digital humanities and social sciences, such as computational methods for new media, network cultures, and digital sociology examination. It will also use advanced computer science, data science, and machine learning tools for textual and graphical analysis of historical and cultural collections or literary texts. We are delighted to inaugurate the Digital Humanities and Social Sciences Center with an exhibition of new media art, a contemporary art current that closely interfaces with advanced technologies and employs VR, AI, and big data visualizations.
