Film and Fiction: Reviewing the
Middle Ages (Studies in Medievalism, Volume XII 2002) Edited by Tom Shippey
with Martin Arnold |
|
"The
'Editorial Note' of the previous volume of Studies in Medievalism remarked
that it contained no contribution directed toward popular, commercial, and
contemporary forms of medievalism, but that these would be as welcome in the
future as studies directed towards the academy or towards medievalism of the
past. It is a pleasure accordingly to note that the balance has been to some
extent redressed in the present volume, which contains three essays
discussing modern film representations of the Middle Ages." From the
Editorial Note Studies
in Medievalism provides
an interdisciplinary medium of exchange for scholars in all fields, including
the visual and other arts, concerned with any aspect of the post-medieval
idea and study of the Middle Ages and the influence, both scholarly and
popular, of this study on Western society after 1500. |
