Prof. Denis Charbit, Chair

Denis Charbit is an associate professor of political science at the Open University of Israel and the academic head of the MA program for Studies of Democracy. His research interests include: history of ideas since the Enlightenment, involvement of French intellectuals in politics, Christian Democracy, Zionist Thought, and North African Jewish Intellectuals. Prof. Charbit served as editor for the publication A History of Jewish-Muslim Relations: From the Origins to the Present Day  (Abdelwahab Meddeb and Benjamin Stora, Eds.). Algerian born and brought up in France, Prof. is regularly interviewed by French speaking media outlets as commentator on current Israeli affairs.

Ms. Avital Erez, Coordinator

Ms. Erez holds a BA in Arabic and Communications from the University of Tel-Aviv and an MSt. in Jewish Studies from the University of Oxford where she wrote her dissertation on the development of the rabbinic interpretation of the festival of Shavuot and its possible connections to the Christian Pentecost. She is also a graduate of the MA program in Jewish-Christian Relations in Cambridge and a former junior scholar of Scholion at the Hebrew University, where she received classical education (Greek and Latin) and read rabbinic texts for the purpose of examining compartive aspects. She  has professional background in television production and media and is currently in charge of the institutes' webpages and social media platforms as well as organizing the center's events.
