Prof. inbal ofer


Inbal Ofer is a professor of contemporary European history in the Department of History, Philosophy, and Judaic Studies. Her work focuses on gender and fascist political culture in Southern Europe; the development of urban space under authoritarian regimes; and the role of urban social movements in democratization processes. Her publications include Claiming the City and Contesting the State: Squatting, Community Formation and Democratization in Spain (1955 – 1986) and Se�oritas in Blue: The Making of a Female Political Elite in Franco's Spain. The National Leadership of the Secci�n Femenina de la Falange (1936-1977).

Ofer is engaged in a research project (funded by the Israel Science Foundation) that historicizes and maps the development and circulation of new disciplinary knowledge and practices in the fields of law and urban planning during Spain's transition to democracy. The project, conducted at the OUI in collaboration with the DHSS Hub, is titled: "Experts in Times of Transition: Democratizing the Production of Disciplinary Knowledge in the Fields of Law and Urban Planning (Spain, 1962-1985)".
